Performing Arts School Business Manager, First Aid
After selling my business and retiring before 40 I thought I would be able to sit back and enjoy. I was wrong! It has been so exciting to watch APPAS grow and welcome these incredible students. No two days are ever the same. It is my job to watch the pennies and make sure that when someone wants to put on a show in a local hall, we do not do it on The Main Stage of the Waterside. Therefore I take the overall responsibility to keep Adele and our teachers reined in.
(For those just joining us, the last show was at the main Stage in the Waterside! ).
Why on earth would anyone stem the creativity and passion that Adele and our wonderful teachers pass onto everyone at APPAS. This then in turn will create the most talent devoted thespians in the business.
To say no would mean that Wicked could one day be without an Elphaba or a Galinda, What would the Opera be without the phantom? And where would the Guys be if the Dolls do not come to APPAS. So I take pride in making the wrong decisions and choose seeing APPAS thrive from the trail these future stars blaze, than profit.
However, I do think my First Aid skills are superior to my business skills, after my seven children experiencing everything from a cut on the knee to meningitis, not only does my training but experiences help to put your children in safe hands. Each APPAS student is part of our extended family and I, along with the rest of the team take great care in all our student’s wellbeing.
Child safeguarding is also a big part of my role within APPAS and I always make time for the children to have somewhere safe they feel comfortable to unload their troubles... and some parents too.
APPAS is so much more than a job to all of us, it’s a passion.
